Haywood Spay/Neuter envisions a future where proper health care is available to every pet in Haywood County, regardless of owner income status. Spay and Neuter services are essential to the health of each dog or cat and greatly diminish the cycle of homeless and unwanted animals. Our wellness programs provide education, referral resources, and essential services to empower pet owners to give their companions the healthy, happy lives they deserve.
TRANSPORT UPDATE: All of our transports for April & May are full. We will release our June dates on May 1st. Due to staff shortages, the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance reduced the number of surgeries they can perform so we book up quickly, especially for female dogs.

In partnership with Sarge's Animal Rescue , we now offer free dog food. Please stop by our office to pick some up.

GET YOUR PET MICROCHIPPED FOR $10 or LESS! In partnership with Sarge's Animal Rescue, we will conduct a Microchip Clinic on Saturday, May 18th, 10am to 1pm at our office. If you have an EBT card, the microchip is free otherwise the fee is $10.

Planned Giving
Anyone, regardless of age or income, can gain from financial and estate planning. Planned giving can enable charitable donations at a level that you might not have thought possible, while maximizing the tax benefits for you and your family. Please note that planned gifts should be carefully considered in relation to your comprehensive financial and estate plans. It is strongly recommended that you consult your financial adviser and an attorney in the preparation of your Will or another type of planned gift and supervise its execution so as to comply with your state requirements.
Haywood Spay/Neuter provides several planned giving options:
Bequests
One of the easiest and most common ways to make a gift to Haywood Spay/Neuter is through a bequest in your Last Will and Testament. Bequests work particularly well for those who are unable to make an outright gift, but would like to aid Haywood Spay/Neuter in the future.
A bequest can be simply stated as follows:
"I bequeath to Haywood Spay/Neuter located, 182 Richland Street in the town of
Waynesville NC (federal taxpayer identification number: 56-1574745, the sum
of $____________ or __________% of my residuary estate (or an accurate description of
securities, real estate or other property given) as an unrestricted bequest to be used
for the organization's stated mission of providing spay and neuter and wellness services
to the community members in Haywood County who otherwise could not afford them."
Gifts of Insurance
For insurance to qualify as a gift, the ownership of whole life, endowment or certain universal life insurance policies must be transferred to Haywood Spay/Neuter with Haywood Spay/Neuter also named as the irrevocable beneficiary of the policy.
Retirement Assets
Some assets are not transferred through a will. These include assets in a qualified retirement plan (qualified plans include an IRA, Keogh, 401(K), 403(B), or defined benefit plan) that remain after your lifetime. Often, a retirement plan is a pre-tax asset and, when transferred to a beneficiary, is subject to estate tax as well as income tax. Naming Haywood Spay/Neuter as the beneficiary of your qualified retirement plan may be advantageous and financially judicious . Most often, all that is required is to name Haywood Spay/Neuter on the beneficiary line when you sign up for your retirement plan, or to modify your current election by notifying your plan administrator.

In Memoriam
A memorial gift is a wonderful way of commemorating the life of a loved one who has passed away or a beloved pet that has crossed over the rainbow bridge. To facilitate gifts, memorials may be established in the name of the deceased. If you provide the name of the memorialized loved one or beloved pet along with an address , a letter will be sent to the family to inform them of your donation. The amount will not be listed. An honor gift is an opportunity to acknowledge a special occasion for a friend, family member, or colleague. We will mark the occasion by sending a letter (if you provide a name and address in the NOTE section in PayPal) to the person you designate announcing the gift, not the amount.
